What is the Avanti international business challenge?
On the day of the Avanti International Business Challenge (AIBC), students
will be assigned to a multinational team of six to seven students and will be
given "The Challenge." Each team will be tasked with analyzing the company
profiled in the case study and making recommendations as outlined in "The
Challenge." Teams will be given two hours to prepare a 10-minute slide show and
oral presentation for a panel of judges from Fortune 500 companies such as
Expeditors International, Chase Bank and Best Buy. Once the presentation is
delivered, judges will follow up with a five-ten minute question-and-answer
session (Q&A). This will take place at the Ronald Reagan Presidential
Library Board Room on the 2nd floor of the Airforce One Pavillion. See the
picture below. Laptops with Wi-Fi, projectors, microphones and materials needed are provided at the site. A fully catered lunch will be served before
judging begins. Airforce One Pavilion-Presidential Board Room is on the 2nd Floor.
During the two-hour preparation period, students will discuss the information to be included in the presentation, review the presentation format, develop a script, create slides, and rehearse their presentation. Approximately 6 teams will compete in Round One, scheduled for the morning. In the afternoon, the three highest-scoring teams will compete will be announced in the Avanti International Business Challenge Championship Round.
